Free Giant chest Window

Hello there,

Just started the game a couple days ago, to my surprise I saw: Free Giant chest opens in 8 hours.
I logged back in about 8,5 hours later to find the timer reset tot 98+something hours ... No chest.

Is there a window in which you must open this chest? Or did I just bug out?
I searched the forums but couldn't find an answer.

You can open the chests any time after the counter ends. Unfortunately you've joined the game just as they're screwing everyone over on a number of things. One of those things is a longer counter for the large chest
